I am a librarian working on my PhD in history, lucky enough to be spending the year in Paris, researching and writing my dissertation. Since my work is off to a bit of a slow start, I thought I would give in to the urgings of some friends and family and start a blog. Partly, to keep said friends and family updated on my life in Paris, but primarily to help propel my own writing process forward as much as possible. Writing is, after all, what I am in Paris to do. So, check back in for progress reports as well as for thoughts on what it is like to be living in my favorite city in the world, and anything and everything else I may be inspired to post a note about or a photo of.
Regarding photos, I always try to include the address and especially the postal (zip) code because I find knowing which Paris arrondisement (neighborhood) something is in (represented by the last two numbers in the code, so 75011 refers to the 11th arrondisement) to be the most orienting piece of cartographic information about it, and so I feel lost whenever that detail is left out of a Paris address.
